Wind vs Coal embodies the value of United Nations SDG 7 - making affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy accessible to everyone, by using both coal and silver to represent our shift from fossil fuels to renewable energies.
The coal element acknowledges our past dependence on fossil fuels, recognising their role in human progress but also pointing out their environmental impact. On the other hand, the silver represents the potential of cleaner energy, focusing on the harnessing of wind power through an exploration of the wind turbine blade shape.
The combination of both materials seeks to convey the tension between our traditional energy practices and the necessary shift toward sustainable alternatives. The pieces serve as a reminder of the delicate balance we need to strike in our energy decisions for a better and more sustainable future.
