Decisive Moment signifies the artist’s transition from photography to contemporary jewellery, reflecting the moment of change and the challenge of decision-making.
Presented with semi-open box shapes symbolising decision thresholds, the viewer faces multiple choices represented by apertures, illustrating the paradox of choice overload. The work chooses to simplify this complexity, offering limited next steps, mirroring the jewellery making process. Presented as three wearable sculptures, it explores structure variations, materials, and scale, using subdued colours and varied textures to convey emotional depth.
The title references photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson's concept of capturing balance in a fleeting moment, symbolising the artist’s transition between artistic mediums. This connection deepens her practice, aiding in clarifying intent and moving forward. Ultimately Decisive Moment reminds us that difficult choices, though daunting, can be simplified and enrich our lives.
